Your Role & Responsibilities

  • SUMMARY:The MAHLE Powertrain Emissions Test Engineer will provide the engineering support and supervision required to successfully deliver powertrain emissions test results from vehicle or engine tests.
  • DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan and execute performance and emissions testing on vehicles and engines
  • Conduct a detailed analysis of emissions test results and prepare technical reports based on those results
  • Ensure the quality of the emissions test results that are being provided to customers
  • Provide input on project proposals and participate in business development activities when required
  • Maintain a working knowledge of new emissions measurement technologies as appropriate to the role
  • Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
  • Work with instrumentation engineers and management to continually develop capabilities that match industry needs
  • Maintain awareness of, and meet the requirements of the Company Quality System
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations. Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around work area

Your Skills & Strengths

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar field of study is required
  • Permanent Residency Status (US Citizen or Green Card) is required
  • 1 or more years of Co-Op, Internship, or professional experience in an Vehicle Emissions Testing environment is required
  • Familiarity with creating and executing vehicle / engine based emissions tests
  • Familiarity with the legislation applicable to emissions testing (Part 86, 1065 and 1066)
  • Familiarity with conducting emissions testing utilizing raw gas and CVS systems
  • Detailed knowledge of diesel and gasoline internal combustion engine operation and the associated emissions outputs
  • Detailed knowledge of diesel and gasoline internal combustion engine diagnostic systems
  • Detailed knowledge of diesel and gasoline internal combustion engine catalyst systems
  • Familiarity with Engine Management Systems (EMS) principles including the use of calibration tools and processes
  • Understanding of dynamometer operation including testing practices, instrumentation, and calculations
  • Experience preparing and delivering technical reports
  • Ability to specify and implement general test equipment e.g. sizing/specifying heat exchangers, pumps, flow meters, valves, transducers etc
  • Familiarity with standardized test cycles and relevant government regulations
  • Knowledge of CARB, EPA and NHTSA legislative requirements for light duty and heavy duty vehicles
  • Ability to analyze test data to detect trends or anomalies and to effectively communicate the results
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to strict time constraints, as part of a team or individually
  • Self-motivated with the drive to complete tasks in a timely manner with appropriate attention to detail – Essential
